Pre-booked airport taxi and transfers between Royston and London Heathrow Airport, in either direction and for all four terminals. The journey is about 56 miles, around 70–90 minutes in normal traffic, and your fixed fare is shown before you book.
Your taxi from Royston to Heathrow Airport is a pre-booked airport transfer, planned around your departure and your terminal. Your driver comes to your Royston address at the agreed time, loads your luggage and takes you directly to the terminal in the same vehicle, with no change of train in central London.
Heathrow is much farther from Royston than Luton or Stansted, so it is usually your flight and airline, rather than distance, that decide the airport. Give us your terminal when you book, and tell us if it changes.
Landing at Heathrow and travelling to Royston? Book your pickup before you fly. It works as a one-way booking in its own right, whether or not you travelled out with us. Give us your flight number, where you are flying from and your arrival terminal, so we can identify the correct flight. We monitor your flight where tracking is available, and your driver’s timing is planned around your arrival and when you are ready.
Your driver waits nearby and comes to the terminal when you are ready. How you meet depends on your terminal, as explained below. Your fixed fare is shown before you book, and it includes the applicable standard parking or pickup charge.
Pickups at these terminals use Heathrow’s Terminal Parking. Your driver parks, comes into the arrivals hall to meet you and helps with your luggage, and you walk back to the car together. Meeting you inside arrivals is part of every pickup at Terminals 2, 3 and 5, and it is included in your fare along with the parking.
Meeting points differ by terminal, so your driver confirms yours after you land.
Terminal 4 currently uses different pickup arrangements, following the closure of its multi-storey car park. For a quick pickup, your driver can wait with the car in the Priority Pick-Up area right outside the Terminal 4 arrivals hall, and you walk out to meet them. Where your booking includes meeting you inside the terminal, your driver can use the Terminal 4 Park & Ride and its shuttle bus to reach Arrivals. Your meeting point is confirmed for your booking.
Heathrow explains the current arrangements on its Terminal 4 changes page.
Heathrow has four passenger terminals: 2, 3, 4 and 5. For a departure, your driver takes you to the drop-off area outside your terminal. Heathrow applies a terminal drop-off charge for each visit, and the standard charge is included in your confirmed fare.
Check your terminal with your airline before you travel. Heathrow’s own travelling by car page has current drop-off and pickup information.
At Terminals 2, 3 and 5, meeting you inside arrivals is included as part of the normal pickup, so there is nothing extra to arrange. At Terminal 4 it depends on your booking: where it is included, your driver can use the Park & Ride and its shuttle bus to reach Arrivals, and your meeting point is confirmed for your booking.
Our meet and greet page explains how pickups work at each airport we serve.
Your fare is worked out for the journey you book: your Royston address, whether you are going to Heathrow or coming back from it, your terminal, the date and time, and the vehicle you choose. Enter your journey to see your current fare before confirming your booking.
Your confirmed fare includes Heathrow’s standard terminal drop-off charge when we take you to the airport, and the applicable standard parking or pickup charge when we pick you up. At Terminals 2, 3 and 5, meeting you inside arrivals is included too. Once you confirm, the fare is fixed for the agreed journey. There is no meter, so traffic does not change what you pay, and neither does a monitored flight delay on its own.
Changes you ask for after booking, such as an extra stop, can affect the fare. Our cancellation and refunds policy explains how changes and cancellations are handled.
The journey is about 56 miles. From Royston, the usual route heads west along the A505 to the A1(M), then around the M25 towards Heathrow. That is a different route from the M11 approach used from Cambridge, and the exact route can vary with traffic and your terminal.
It takes around 70–90 minutes in normal traffic. Journey time can be longer at busy times, particularly when the M25 is congested, so we set your pickup time from your flight time, your terminal and your address, and confirm it with you in advance.
There is no direct train from Royston to Heathrow. A typical rail route is Thameslink from Royston to Farringdon, then the Elizabeth line to Heathrow, which normally means one change. As a broad comparison, the rail journey takes roughly 1 hour 45 minutes.
Road and rail journey times both vary, so the right choice depends on your luggage, your flight time and who is travelling. Check current timetables before you travel.
You can book a Heathrow taxi for a colleague, client, visitor or family member, online or by phone on 01223 944905. The person who books and the person who travels do not need to be the same.
Include the traveller’s own name and mobile number, so the driver can reach them directly. For a Heathrow pickup, also give their flight number, where they are flying from and their arrival terminal. Where needed, we can keep both the traveller and the person who made the booking informed.
