Pre-booked transfers from Stansted, Heathrow and the other London airports to Babraham Research Campus, for visiting researchers, business guests, conference delegates and the teams who arrange their travel.
Babraham Research Campus is a life science campus beside the village of Babraham, about 6 miles from central Cambridge. It is home to the Babraham Institute and a community of life science companies, from start-ups to scale-ups. The campus postcode is CB22 3AT.
This page is for researchers, business guests and conference delegates flying in to the campus, and for the PAs, office managers and event organisers who arrange their travel.
Fleeyo provides pre-booked private airport transfers to and from the campus. Your driver meets you at the airport and brings you to the campus entrance, where the security team directs you to the building you are visiting. The fare is shown in full before you confirm and is then fixed for the agreed journey.
The Babraham Institute names London Stansted as the nearest airport to the campus. A pre-booked transfer takes you from the terminal straight to the campus, with your luggage in the vehicle for the whole journey. This is useful when you need to arrive in time for a meeting or a conference session.
Your fare includes a pickup at Express Set Down, a short walk outside the terminal. Your driver calls or sends a text message after you land to confirm where to meet. Meeting you inside arrivals with a name board is available on request, and it is quoted when you book.
Give us your flight number when you book. Your driver tracks the flight and adjusts the pickup time if it lands early or late, at no extra cost. Traffic or a delayed flight does not change the fare.
If you prefer public transport, Stansted Airport lists direct trains and coaches to Cambridge. From Cambridge, you continue to the campus by local bus or by taxi. With light luggage and time to spare, this can work well. For a late arrival or a tight schedule, a booked transfer removes the change in Cambridge. See booking for a colleague or visitor for the details we need.
Heathrow is west of London, so the transfer to the campus is a long road journey, via the M25 and the M11. We cover Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5, and we set the pickup time from your flight details.
At Heathrow, meeting you inside the terminal is part of every pickup. Your driver waits nearby and comes into arrivals once you are through, with a board showing your name, then helps with your luggage to the car.
By public transport, the Babraham Institute recommends Cambridge station as the rail arrival point for the campus. From Heathrow, one route is the Piccadilly line to King’s Cross St Pancras, then a train from King’s Cross to Cambridge, then the bus or a taxi to the campus. National Express also runs direct coaches from Heathrow to Cambridge.
That is three stages with luggage after a long flight. For this reason, a company may prefer to book a car for an overseas visitor, so the journey runs directly from the terminal to the campus.
Babraham Research Campus notes that Luton, Heathrow and Gatwick are reached by regular rail links from central Cambridge. We also provide direct transfers to the campus from Gatwick, Luton and London City.
Meeting you inside arrivals with a name board is included in the fare. By rail, Thameslink runs direct trains from Gatwick to Cambridge, and you then continue to the campus by bus or taxi.
Your fare includes a pickup at the airport’s Pick Up and Drop Off zone, a short walk from the terminal. Meeting you inside is available on request and quoted when you book.
Your fare includes a pickup at the signed pick-up area in the airport’s on-site car park, a short walk from the small terminal. Meeting you inside is available on request.
Our meet and greet page explains how pickups work at each airport.
Babraham Research Campus is a secure site. The only vehicle entrance is from the roundabout on the A1307, and the campus asks visitors to avoid travelling through Babraham village.
When you arrive, the campus security team greets you. Give your name and the company you are visiting, and you will be directed to the right building. If you are not sure where to go, the campus reception is in The Cambridge Building, at the centre of the campus. Visitors to the Babraham Institute go to that reception first, unless they have arranged to meet their host somewhere else.
The campus has many named buildings. Give us the company name and the building name when you book, and ask your host whether to go to their building or to reception.
Fleeyo is an independent private hire operator, licensed by South Cambridgeshire District Council. We are not connected with Babraham Research Campus or the Babraham Institute, and access to the campus is managed by the campus security team.
The campus conference and events service, Connect@Babraham, uses The Cambridge Building as its main venue. The campus reception is in the same building, so delegates arriving for an event there go to one place.
Follow the joining instructions from your event organiser, and tell us the venue and the start time when you book. If you are organising an event and arranging travel for several speakers or guests, make a separate booking for each arrival, with each person’s flight details.
A PA, office manager, event organiser or colleague can book the transfer on behalf of the traveller. You can book online or call 01223 944905.
Where needed, we can keep both the traveller and the person who made the booking informed. You can pay online when you book. For regular bookings, Fleeyo also supports business accounts, with invoices for account bookings sent to your company’s finance contact. Our corporate travel page has the details.
Details to include when you book:
There is no railway station on the campus. The Babraham Institute recommends Cambridge station for rail travel to the campus. Whittlesford Parkway is also nearby but has fewer services, and Babraham Research Campus notes that a taxi from Whittlesford cannot be guaranteed. If you plan to arrive there, arrange your onward transport before you travel.
Cambridge station has a taxi rank. For buses, the current travel information from Babraham Research Campus and the Babraham Institute lists the Stagecoach 13 route from Drummer Street bus station in central Cambridge, with the nearest stop to the campus entrance at Cambridge Lodge. Check the current timetable before travel. You can also plan bus journeys on Traveline and rail journeys on National Rail.
Babraham Research Campus publishes directions and a downloadable campus map on its contact page, and the Babraham Institute has travel details on its getting here page.
